hydraulic jump simulations

Published:

https://library.upei.ca/islandora/object/csme2020%253A39

- Researched impact of topography variation in internal hydraulic jumps

- Used Compute Canada supercomputer cluster to run simulations

- Created MATLAB & Python post-processing codes to generate images of density field, the results were then combined into a video containing each photo for 1/60th of a second (or 60fps)

western rocketry cfd for spaceport america cup '20

- In preparation for the Spaceport America Cup 2020, transient and steady-state CFD simulations on StarCCM+ were run to find aerodynamic performance of our rocket

-Adaptive mesh refinement was implemented to increase resolution near the shockwave

- Simulations were parallelized to run on GPU clusters and later processed on a local Windows PC

- Conducted several StarCCM+ CFD of airfoil and vehicle at various ride-heights

- Simulations were steady-state in order to compute maximum downforce and drag produced once simulations fully converged

- Simulations are run on the SHARCNET's Graham cluster for parallel computing
